Back in May my mum and dad jetted off to a little island for a holiday in Dominican Republic and seeing as I knew I had to wait a little while until my next holiday well a month later but you know in beauty needs time that is a long old time and they were off to duty free before I was. They asked if i wanted perfume but I currently have amples left still so instead I just asked if they could grab me either the ‘Clarins HydraQuench Cream‘ or ‘Clarins HydraQuench Serum’ when they got there they had a deal on for this travel exclusive where you get them as a duo for a third off the full retail price if purchased separately so they kindly got me them.
I have been using them both and a little with them goes a long way. I will tell you separately about them as I use the cream in the morning as my moisturiser and the serum in the evening to work its magic overnight.
HydraQuench Cream : This is a large pot at 50ml and I can see it doing me for months and months considering I use maybe a 5p size dollop for the whole of my face it spreads really well. I wouldn’t recommend dotting it then rubbing in as if you rub it in straight away it goes further because it hydrates the skin so fast it absorbs almost instantly so if you move it into the skin quicker it will cover a larger area. I have dry skin and under my nose especially gets super dry, although the doctor called it something else, I’m not sure much will make it go away but it does improve with this. This cream is designed for normal/dry skin and is ultra light weight and doesn’t feel like your skin is heavy and weighed down it also smells lovely it has a fresh scent that for some reason reminds me of the beach, maybe it is the blue frosted glass of the pot reminding me of sea washed glass this is that in an up market form to me, and it makes me happy but don’t drop it it will smash. For me this is a pre make up product I replaced my normal moisturiser and in its place this has firmly become the best thing for my skin this summer as I am hardly wearing foundation, this does not have an SPF so I do have to also apply that.
HydraQuench Intensive Serum: This serum I was a bit on the fence about feeling the same way I felt about face oils I do get oily patches so that old thing of adding oil to oily skin just seems a bit odd. This was a bit different though with the same blue glass bottle and fresh scent the texture is silky and the serum is blue which seems strange to put on your face. This is rich in omega-3 and gives a natural youthful looking appearance keeping skin looking fresh and you guessed hydrated. You can use this in the morning too before the moisturiser but for me I like to apply it in the evening after my normal sin care regime I feel like my skin benefits from it more by not putting make up on top throughout the day. It leaves a velvety matte sheen on the skin which I like it reminds me of a primer the finishes it gives but leaves my skin feeling like I’ve had a facial.
