For me holiday start at Duty Free, and on my trip to Dominican last November I began my holiday right there. Every holiday I always scope out they shelves and isles in World Duty Free spraying perfumes everywhere and swatching my hand to see what my next tax free purchase may be.
This being said I do always tend tos nap up a cheaper perfume and then always head to the trusty Chanel counter to stock up on what I would call my signature scent, Chanel Chance. This time though something caught my eye and has changed my go to perfume totally and I thought it would take some doing but like a little magpie I was swayed instantly.
This bottle has a shiny bevelled textured, with a glass window in the middle etched with its name. Its weighty and feels luxurious, I was dubious at first, Opium the original YSL scent reminds me of my mum and growing up and it wasn’t something I could associate with myself as a scent can remindo you of a person or place you on’t want to loose that but on smelling this I just knew it was me. It was a winter release but I was heading for the sunshine and it just works all year round. Though every time I now spray it, it just reminds me of Dominican, Jonny even said to me you smell like Dominican what are you wearing! The bottle and the scent is just damn right sexy, its rich and lingers and stays smelling wonderful all day. Its a scent that people think ooo whats that you’ve got on.
I partly think that because it has notes of the original but has just been spiced up a bit is why I love it. Its a kick ass version of the original a little less grown up but it is aimed to get a new generation drawn in loving the original scent just with a twist. A little less heavy than the original, I think they have used tad less jasmine though there are still traces of it but its the warm spicy vanilla and patchouli that get me, fresh but deep and dark which matches its rock chick look to a tee.
As i’ve grown up I now feel a darker more sultry scent is what I look for instead of your everyday floral number and this hits the nail on the head. The price is reasonable too I can’t recall what I got this for but I got some freebies and other bits too. If your looking for a steal at the moment Escentual have 20% off everything including Black Opium and prices range from £45 – £85 depending on size mine is the largest bottle but they do a range of sizes.
What do you think of YSL Black Opium? What is your signature scent?
