When a product has a lot of hype around it, it normally puts me off buying it for a while… I hate jumping on the bandwagon and with the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation I did just that. I have heard such rave reviews about this so when it was in the staff World Duty Free sale for just £19 I took the leap and got myself one to try and give you all my first impressions but they are slightly mixed I must say.
I wonder if its the colour I have ‘Ecru’ that is just wrong for my skin but I also wonder if its just not the right formula for me. Now when I tested this it was a great match for my skin tone and applying it was really nice it is thick. Maybe if anything a little too heavy? But what really has put me off is the way this oxidised on my skin when it had settled and I was orange and patchy. Luckily I did one last check before leaving the house but lucky I did as I had to redo my face.
For a £30 foundation that has rave review I just haven’t fallen in love, I mean this is classed as the UK No1 foundation. One of the main claim though is it wont change colour and that is what it did for me, and that its lightweight and again sadly I disagree I found this to be high coverage not medium but quit cakey in texture when on the skin.
Now while no this is not for me, I do get that people love it, I mean women everywhere can’t be wrong it’s just a few of us not having that bond with the product. It is great for oily skin, which ironically you guessed it I do not have it clung to my dry patches as it has a very powered formulation but on my cheeks which are normal not dry nor oily it became as I said patchy here too, an anomaly maybe?
Sadly I didn’t get to see if it lasted for up to 15 hours I got an hour at most. I feel the colour I had probably had red undertones instead of yellow judging from online colour charts which is likely my first mistake but from testing to applying i was just such a huge difference once settled on my face.
Though this has now gone to a new home and the owner loves it! Guess this is just not one for me and I will be sticking with my NARS sheer glow. I would love to try out other bits from Estee Lauder though so any other recommendations let me know.
