Looking back at my blog, I wonder if this is the first foodie style post you may have seen on LemonaidLies? What better way to start the day though, than with breakfast right? So today thanks to a lovely delivery from the team at Alpro I bring you the perfect indulgent yet super healthy and still mega tasty breakfast and the concoctions you can make are endless.
When Alpro asked if I wanted to try their new big pot range how could I say no? Since my operations has made my stomach a little crazy (considering it is now half the size) I have made conscious efforts to cut down on dairy products where I can, be that in my morning smoothie or my afternoon yogurt. Recently I have been turing to Alpro to still give me something sweet and yummy without that bloat so I have been using soya milk in my tea, snacking on their caramel deserts and switching milk in my smoothies for my new favourite their coconut almond milk, in fact it’s so good you can without a doubt drink it alone… or make pina colada!
I received a few of all the new big pots – Plain, Plain with Almond & Plain with Coconut. Along with a gorgeous Denby bowl, Emma Bridgewater spoon and a trio of toppings to try, the perfect breakfast companions. I raided the fridge and whipped up my smoothie of current choice, it has been a morning stale and I switch between this and good old banana and peanut butter. To make the smoothie itself I used:
3 Large table spoons of Plain with Almond
3 Large table spoons of Plain with Coconut
8-10 Raspberries
15-20 Blueberries
1 large sliced banana
Coconut Oil
A handful of oats
I used my everyday staple the Breville Blend Active to mix all my sweet delights and once done to a slightly thicker consistency than my morning drinking smoothie I poured into my bowl. On top I added fresh banana, banana chips, fresh blueberries, walnuts and another sprinkling of oats.
It was such a simple yet filling bowl and its sweet and leaves you feeling like you’ve had a treat. I also love that the combinations are never ending! The next one on my list to make is a mocha bowl with peanut butter and dark chocolate, which to em sounds so indulgent yet none of that guilt that follows. This is the first time I ever made one of these and since making it I have been pinning my heart out browsing all the different recipes you can make.
My coconut berry blast bowl is getting me ready for summer and the colours just make me smile it tastes as good as it looks and while yes a fry up looks great too this on a Sunday morning left me feeling fuelled for the day. For me it is also contributing to my conscious efforts to try and be a healthier me by making little changes and little things like trading a bacon butty to this is one of them it is 100% plant based and rich in protein so these would also be great for me after the gym, it naturally low in fat and sugars which is something I am making an effort to reduce in my diet.
I am loving the ease of these big pots too they are great because a little with some fruit an granola could be a breakfast at work for the week but if you are looking for a snack thats a real indulgent but uber easy and healthy treat then there is another Alpro post coming featuring the plain yogurt which you wont want to miss for something naughty but very very nice!
Have you made any breakfast bowls? What would your favourite combination be?
