ILIA BEAUTY abrand you may not know of, correct? Well that was the case for me, so when an assortment of lovely bits from this brand arrived I couldn’t wait to try everything out. For me this brand ILIA Beauty* is the perfect capsule collection of makeup its simple, chic and eclectic. It doesn’t hide your natural beauty but it enhances it by being subtle and chic. The quality of the products are reflected also in its packaging made from recycled aluminium so it’s sturdy and environmentally friendly.
Sasha Plavsic ILIA’s founder began the brand in Vancouver Canada in 2011 with 6 tinted lip conditioners to showcase the brand and set its footing in the market. Unlike some organic beauty brands ILIA is focused on the aesthetic too and wants it products and look to stand out in the industry – this I think it does, it is clean and simplistic so tranquil and yet strong with a mix of off whites a muted metallics.
I was lucky enough to try ample from the brand and it for me is the perfect holiday or post holiday makeup range. I say this first because like I did mention it is very simplistic and clean in the colder months my face needs a little more coverage but in the summer months I will 100% be turning to this brand.
LIP CONDITIONER, BALMY RAYS SPF15 (£22) – I love this it is a completely clear lip balm with the added bonus of SPF meaning it is great to keep in your beach bag.
TINTED LIP CONDITIONER IN SHEER BERRY RED (£22) – This is a lovely transitional holiday or summer colour its got a lovely shimmer, nothing too heavy but its got a silky finish. The colour is muted and for me adds a little something to the natural shade of my lips.
LIP GLOSS IN WHITE RABBIT (£20) – This is probably the only product I wont use much out of what I have tried. I rarely wear gloss having hair means hair in gloss then sticking horrid hair. This is a little better as it’s not tacky and can be paired over a lipstick and it has a slight gold shimmer which is really great at catching the light, for me a little to shimmery gloss, however they do one called peek-a-boo which is a muted nude and that I think I may wear more.
ILLUMINATOR (£30) – I love this, a highlight for me is something I now rarely leave the house without putting a dab, dash or swipe across my cheek bones and under my brow arch. I normally go for a powder or a liquid but this multi stick is sleek and easy to use. The pearlescent colour means it can be used on the above inner corner of the eyes or cupids bow to add a dewy glow.
MULTI STICK IN ALL OF ME (£30) – Just like the illuminator this stick is versatile and easy to use. Warm watermelon is what this is described as, it’s perfect for most skin tones and adapts to all shades which means this will get use for me too all year round. Perfect too for using on the lips as it has a flecks of shimmer.
TRANSLUCENT POWDER SPF20 (£25) – This light reflecting power means your glow stays a glow in the places you want. No pesky t-zone troubles with this! It is house in a case that is refillable and no need for extra tools either as this comes equip with a brush. It offers sun protection with a fine pearl pigment that offers a luminous finish but reflects the light. This 100% natural formula also nourishes the skin meaning it doesn’t dry out the skin at all, so it can be used alone or to set makeup.
RADIANT BEAUTY BALM SPF20 (£35) – A radiant and light diffusing fluid that provides broad spectrum sun protection and works perfectly as a luminous base under makeup. It comes in the one shade ‘All your gold’ the subtle gold pearl pigments softly diffuse the light creating a lovely fresh youthful finish. It works great as a base for you to build your makeup on or alone.
SILKEN SHADOW STICK IN AND SHE WAS (£23) – I like shadow sticks and find this one very similar to an oldie I love from Barbra Daly Shimmer Sand which I did a post on. This shade is a nude gold that adds a real light to the eye, either on the whole lid on just in the corners again as a base to add other colours too or alone for a muted look. This applies really smoothy it has a velvety texture and sits on the lids really well it was really easy to blend with other colours which makes it really versatile in your makeup bag.
MASCARA IN NIGHTFALL BLACK (£22) – For me it is a little pricey for a mascara that doesn’t have a unique selling point such as my favourite Benefit They’re Real It doesn’t for me have a wow lash effect. It is nice and is a jet black with a good brush that hasn’t seen any clumping yet. It is made with 85% natural ingredients, vegan friendly and its aloe and Vitamin E extracts help to nourish the lashes no chemical glues, synthetics or artificial preservatives.
The band is now branching out and is a feature in may stores Fortnum & Mason being one place you could stop in to try something or Fewick of Bond Street if you in town. If you’re happy to buy online Naturisimo, Net a Porter and Panache Beauty are a few that stock everything in this post! The brand is a real gem in my eyes, somewhat expensive for a brand that you may not know much about but if you can try the products you will buy the products!
