When you realise that there is a now a way to snap up some products you’ve been eying up from a brand that didn’t ship to the UK that little happy dance I did in glee knowing that I was about to buy more Milani Makeup! My love from the brand goes way back to when on my trips to Orlando I would scour the isles of Wallgreens to hunt down my must have’s to take home now though no more flying across the atlantic because I just dropped a small fortune on a little haul. Mixed thoughts on a few things but read on to see what I got a bit spendy on.
First up was two Color Statement Matte Lipsticks (£5.99) I already owned ‘Darling’ a nude with a red/brown mix. So in keeping with my love of nude lipsticks I added ‘Dulce Caramelo’ a pinky nude which with pale skin is stunning it really work on my skin tone in winter and like all of Milani’s matte lipsticks is not drying on the lips and is just so easy and creamy when applying. The other shade I popped in my basket was ‘Teddy Bare’ this is a real brown nude and the opposite of Dulce Caramelo works better on me when I have a tan. The other thing Milani have done is make their lipsticks smell amazing to me they all smell like watermelon sweets I had from the pick and mix as a kid, surely it couldn’t get any better?
I then picked up two lip liners one being Anti Feathering Lip Liner (£4.49) a really handy transparent lip liner to stop any bleed which to be hones is amazing if you have a lipstick that you can’t for the life of you find a liner to colour match correctly. The other I added to my basket was their Color Statement Lipliner (£3.99) in ‘All Natural’ these pair up with their lipstick namesakes but the ones I wanted were out of stock – this however really works with most nude lipstick that have brown-ish tones as its really easy to use to prominently define the lips.
Here is where I went a little mad and just got myself some very un-me shades of the Amore Matte Lip Creme’s (£7.99) I went for ‘Babe’ this is very pink the shade ‘Adorable’ is more me and I now regret this shade a little I don’t pull of colour very well as i feel it washes me out though I do love how these feel on the lips they are ultra flattering and the colour really does pop. Next up was ‘Allure’ again a pink shade though slightly darker, it swatches quite red but dries pinker on the lips its an odd chameleon shade but for me more wearable. The my moment of madness grew to a huge what are you doing girl moment. I put the shade ‘Fling’ in my basket yep it pinky purple I wear neither pink nor purple lipstick yet there I am with 3 pinks in my basket. I do however like this one the most it is darker than I thought again dries lighter but it does kind of work for a bolder look without to much oh dear what have I done to my face moments. Also again would like to mention these too smell delicious and these to me smell of cherry!
Sadly another few products I got that we’re just poor judgement on my part when it came to colour were the Conceal + Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation and Concealer (£9.99) I went and got Light Beige, bad move it had really warm undertones and was just to orange for my skintone, it was such good coverage and really did hid a multitude of skins especially on the days my bags were out in full force and my skin was looking a little lacklustre so this went to a better home alone with the two brow products I picked up. I love my ABH Diprbrow and I wear medium brown in that. I had been umming and ahhhing for ages as sometimes I feel it can be too dark for me but at £15 a pot I didn’t want to jump the gun and buy a lighter shade without swatching so I went for these options to give other shades in the same style as my ABH a go in the form of the ‘Stay Put Brow Colour’ and the ‘Easy Brow Automatic Pencil’ both not available on the UK site – I should say I got these from the old Milani site before they launched their swanky new site so that may be why not everything is available.
The Stay Put Brow Colour is fantastic it is a dupe of the dipbrow it comes with a great double ended brush that I kept one end has an angled tip and the other a spoolie. I got ‘Natural Taupe’ and it was too light it looked orange in my brows. I tint my brows darker as they are a mix of blonde and brown so it just didn’t do it for me sadly but it is a fantastic products in general. Got the same shade in the Stay Put Brow Colour and again had the same issue – it again applied easily, though it was odd going back to a pencil style brow product after so long. The spoolie is attached to this so its a really handbag friendly product, only downside is the shades it does come in are limited.
Let’s get onto my favourite two products of my haul. It is loved everywhere and I saw so many people raving about this so when I saw the Baked Blush (£7.49) in ‘Luminoso’ was in sock It went in with no second thoughts. A stunning shimmer blush in a coral shade that is seriously so so beautiful. It comes with a little brush under the blush in its oven compartment but I feel it applies better with one of my own brushes meaning I can blend it in better. It adds the warmest glow to the skin and I can’t wait to see how it looks with tanned skin while I am on holiday!
The creme de la creme is this Bella Eyes – Gell Powder Eyeyshadow (£4.99) sadly the shade I have ‘Dolci’ is only available on the US site but oh my oh my this is the most beautiful eyeshadow I own and that is a big shout! Part of the Dolci bronze collection this is a copper/ rose golden shadow as it is the most flattening shade. I am drawn to anything copper or rose gold so when i saw this was available from the 2015 collection I knew it was meant to be mine. It is very very pigmented so it really pops and you will have no issues getting it to show on your lids its lovely to layer and by using different shades such as pink or gold as a build-able base you can change the whole look of the shadow.
Only downside is that in general most prices are the same in pounds as in dollars so your £5.99 lipstick would be $5.99 meaning with the exchange rate you aren’t getting as good of a deal but it is cheaper than getting a flight! Also some of the products I snapped up from the older Milani site that just shipped to the UK are not available on the new official Milani site so may be worth looking at Milani Cosmetics EU this is where all my stuff came from it is totally legit and came really fast also some of the shades like Luminoso and the brow products oh and the Dolic shadow are available from there. The prices are in euros so it will be dependent on the euro rate as to what you pay in pounds.
While you are there grab a fierce foil eyeliner! You wont regret it, I will at some point do a post on that or include it on a favourites as I got one in the US and well it’s insane how good it is!
What do you think, will you be getting anything from Milani?
