“People who love to eat are always the best people” – Julia Child
I thought I would let you drool a little before finding out about all my lovely meal at the new Byron Burger that has just opened up down the road in Windsor. I love Byron and it is one of my favourite chain restaurants, it has quality food at a good price and they are always thinking outside the box a little in terms of being a little different to other chains, this makes them different and memorable for instance they do themed burgers like the my all time favourite the Miami Slice but they have even done ones to correspond with events like the Euros so they keep up with current trends which for a burger restaurant is pretty cool and inventive.
I got to pop along to the newly opened restaurant last week with my best friend holly in toe, she’s just had my second beautiful god child so it was a night for us to just catch up and to give her a break for a few hours from mummy duties. We were greeted warmly when we arrived being taken to a little booth situated just upstairs, the staff are friendly and bubbly and really attentive, great start for a new place it is employing great staff who like what they are I firmly believe good service makes a good meal!
Know for their ‘proper hamburgers’ holly opted for that monster you see exploding which is the B-REX burger full to the brim with onion rings, american cheese, bacon, jalapeños, pickles, onions, mayo and BBQ sauce all packed in that bun alongside two patties. I opted for the burger I had been recommended and the new kid on the menu, the Clucky Balboa a beautifully fried chicken breast in a bun piled high with guacamole, siracha mayo and pickled pink onions. It also has pickles which I donated to Holly’s plate because I just can’t deal with them slimy creatures no matter how good the burger.
We couldn’t resist a side of bacon cheese fries, all the best things in one little bowl, they remind me of america and their fake cheese is so so good but so so bad and that is what makes it addictive! It all had to be washed down with something off of their extensive drinks menu I opted for my favourite, if on the menu I will choose a root beer it is a marmite type drink but I adore it and as not many places serve it I always grab one in Byron but they have a range of wines, craft beers and soft drinks to choose from too. Holly went for a salted caramel milkshake but I knew after scoping out the menu beforehand that I had to leave a little room for desert because… Byron do a freakshake! That is right a giant extra-thick milkshake stacked with vanilla ice cream, brownie, whipped cream, chocolate and caramel sauces, topped with crushed honeycomb. I had the Oreo one but they have literally just launched their Reese’s Peanut Butter cup one which I bet is to die for too, beware though it will get a little messy!
I left feeling really really full but oh so content also carrying half my freakshake in a take away cup because while I was defeated I couldn’t let it go to waste! It is in a great location too so if you’re in Windsor it is just opposite the castle, great for a catch up or if your passing through it has so much food choice, well if you like burgers but they do do a bun less and veggie too oh and salads but who want’s a salad at a burger bar? If you sign up to the Byron Burger Club you can be the first to know about offers, news and treats they have to offer!
Have you been to Byron Burger before? Let me know if you pop in and try!
