Oh early mornings you are either someone who thrives on getting up and out or you’re a lay in and snooze person but you desperately want to be a morning person optimise your day and give it a kick start? Well here are 7 tips to get you on the road to being an early riser and loving it.
1. No phones after 10pm
A tough one in the age of social media but giving yourself a phone curfew can help. Normally we get into bed we sit there an scroll but this is so bad. I know you’ll say ‘but my alarm is on my phone’ well get an alarm clock and put the phone somewhere else. It tends to be the last thing i do be before bed and first thing I reach for in the morning and when you think about it, it is kind of weird! Remove tech like this that can disturb you or temp you from the room and you will fall asleep a lot easier.
2. Read a book, stop scrolling
Reach for a good book and read until you eyes are heavy! Reading is so good for you, you could read an old favourite, an new release or even learn a new skill. We live in such a hectic world that we rarely make time for reading and we really should it is so good for your mental state. Keep one on your bedside and reach for it in the evening.
3. Easy one, get out of bed
So after getting your full nights sleep and feeling a little more ready to take on the day you get out of bed. Sounds easy right? But I don’t mean wake up and lay there! You are more likely to fall back to sleep or lay there and procrastinate for a while which is not going to get you up and out. So do just that get up when your alarm goes off, swing your legs out and ground them and get straight up. This small difference can make a big change when it comes to you mindset.
4. Fuel your body
Okay so you’re up, head straight and drink some water then proceed to get some food in you. Weekdays I am all about tea first thing but weekends I will grab a coffee. Pick something like cereal, fruit or eggs for breakfast and give your body the fuel it needs to get you through to lunch. I always have heard how important breakfast is, but it actually is this is not some spiel it can help with memory and concentration meaning you’re day is set to be more productive.
5. Do some exercise
Getting up a little earlier and making the most fo the morning can help you in mind and body. You can sped 30 mins either in the gym or at home doing a work out. It could be something light or something more intense whatever you prefer. It will help your stress levels decrease, I always feel a lot more alert after exercise and feel much more energised throughout the day. It also helps with getting a better nights sleep so this is a circle of changes that can help.
6. Get a routine
The key is to stick to it, make it a routine and your body will automatically learn your habits and getting up will become easier and easier, your routine becomes the norm quickly and before you know it you’re a morning person without realising.
7. Get a cat
If you really don’t think you can stick to nay of the above get a cat! Alf wakes me up as soon as the sun is up by laying on my face, attempting to groom me and just being a little bit of a nuisance this is usually way before i really want to get up but I end up getting up to feed him! Unconventional but works! Haha.
Do you have any tips for becoming a morning person?

I love the cat tip 😂 this is another positive reason to get one!! I’m awful at waking up but then sitting in bed scrolling through my phone which I really need to get out of the habit of! Also finishing work past 10pm some nights ruins the routine as I can’t always have an early night 🙁
