AD | This post is in collaboration with Desenio* When Desenio asked if I would like a hand in sprucing up a room with some of their prints, you can bet me a buck I said yes. After 2 and a half years in our house, our second bedroom looked lacklustre, dull and essentially is just where we get ready and beyond that not much more than being that the room with all the random stuff in.
I hated how lifeless the room looked and for months I had been browsing Desenio creating galleries, switching out prints in a desperate attempt to make the jump and decide what would work in there. Turns out I learnt a valuable lesson here, which is just pick whatever you like the look of, take inspiration from things you love or has meaning to you and then no matter what you’ll appreciate the way they work for you and your home.
Don’t get me wrong I still spent a whole evening planning on what prints to pick but that is because there are just so many incredible ones to choose from. I also had to decide what galley wall I liked and based my choices around the layout. I knew from the get go I wanted back & white only, choosing between gold and black frames was harder but we have black frames in the hall and gold in the living room and I just felt that the black was bold and defined, worked with the grey we have in the room and complimented the black and white prints well.
So what did we go for and why? Well let me take you through them and the stories behind them, because as I said pick things that you love or have meaning to you.
Pineapple black & white poster – Funny but not only do I adore the fruit (darn delicious) but in my life I have lost count how many times people have said my hair is like a pineapple, quite fitting for the room I do my hair in!
You look lovely poster – Another apt one for the room where we make ourselves look presentable. Sometimes you just need a morning pick me up and this was it.
Zebra portrait poster – Long and short of it, Jonny would have judged me if I got a cat print so the Zebra was the next best thing, oh and it of course matches the colour theme we’ve gone for here. The one with the top hat was even cooler but didn’t match the rest exactly.
London poster – We live in greater London, well practically but it is where we say is home. Jonny is originally from the midlands but he up’d sticks after we finished university for good and it’s where we have placed our roots.
Palms Above poster – We love to travel of course but this print in particular made me think of the Philippines where we got engaged in December.
Walking in Paris poster – This was a mix of I wish I was this fancy and also I loved the style I have a similar one in my lounge and it just worked for our house and helped them flow.
Le Noir poster – I really wanted a white on black print to stand out and I loved how this one looked the font, it was just clean and simple.
I am so happy with how our gallery wall turned out, it makes the room feel much more personal and friendly which is good considering guest stay here. Good base as-well if we want to add more as we have the room to expand further left too.
