With winter rolling in you can bet there is nowhere I want to be more than snuggled in bed. I mean is there anything better than being cosy and comfy in your own bed as the day and the evening all blend into one and drifting off to sleep soundly?
At the moment more than ever with working from home since March I have been trying to switch off more in the evenings to really disconnect from work, which is sadly harder than before because unlike when I used to leave the office and come home I now leave the dining room meaning having that time to really wind down and get ready for the next day has become so much more important to me.
November has really kicked me into making some changes, this month I have paused dinking, I am working out 5-6 times a week, going for walks and getting sleep, proper sleep.
TEMPUR® gave me the gift of sleep this year with their classic pillow, but they did ask me, in turn, who would I give the gift of sleep to this Christmas? Tough one eh and why this may be a huge cop-out I want to say you! Yep if you’re reading this keep going, check out the range, get some tips and if you head over to my Instagram, you can also grab yourself a discount too. So I am gifting you a good nights sleep that you can share with your friends and loved ones too. Because I can tell you thanks to TEMPUR®, I am sleeping like a dream.
Here are my top tips that are helping me switch off, relax and wake up ready and more motivated even when that glum winter morning hits.
Invest in proper pillows and a mattress
Getting a good nights sleep is so important not just for concentration but things like your immune system, stress, weight you name it. Getting a solid 8 hours is key to sleeping well. But if your head is hitting the pillow and causing you aches and pains then proper pillows should be your first port of call.
A TEMPUR® pillow combines the pressure-relieving comfort and support in a familiar rectangular pillow design. Just so you can get really comfortable, dress it up in your favourite bed linen as it fits easily into a standard pillowcase, then fluff and puff it just the way you want it.While the pillow will go a long way to helping you sleep better, longer, deeper. Investing in a mattress to match may seem like a high cost, but when you think on average you spend 26 years of your life in bed, it really is something you should be investing in. In fact, I plan on buying the TEMPUR® mattress when we do u our guest room soon so anyone who stays the night can get a great nights sleep too.
No tech for an hour before
It may seem like a simple one, but we are all guilty of it, scrolling through in bed while the TV is on in the background. Bad move right before you sleep, the blue light is not good for you and can stop you from falling asleep as fast. So why not instead grab a book and read, listen to a podcast or some mellow magic or pop the light off and relax until you naturally drift off.
Get ready and relax
This, as I mentioned right back up top is what I am finding hardest at the moment. That lack of distinction between work and home because they have blurred into one and with another lockdown getting out and feeling that normality has also been hard.
So come 5:30 pm when I close my laptop down it’s time to start my evening. It goes away, out of sight, I try and get a walk-in if possible, to almost simulate leaving work. I then pop on some comfy clothes and light all the candles before getting dinner ready and dancing around my kitchen whilst cooking. I may now and again, especially on weekends run myself a big ole bath and submerge myself for a little while.
Afterwards, Lee and I spend time together, he finishes later but like me needs to switch off so after eating together and chatting it’s time to get that TV in before bed. We both head up at the same time, which is nice and start to our evening routine, brushing teeth, chatting watching a little bit of news then it’s reading and lights out for us both.
Which is much easier now we are comfortable and supported thanks to TEMPUR®. With only 41 days left until Christmas and approx. 328 hours of those days will be spent sleeping why not invest in a good nights sleep and take a step back from what a crazy year 2020 has been.
TEMPUR® has very kindly given me a discount code to pass on to any of you wanting to switch to their pillows or mattress.
